“Today” A Third Generation Faces the Future!
Changes in society and advances in technology have dramatically altered today’s grocery shopping patterns. Such changes are likely to continue as David Ball leads Ball’s Food Stores in the 21st Century. Yet, this third-generation grocer believes one constant will outweigh any trend: the importance of listening to customers and accommodating their needs.
“One-stop shopping is important to today’s customers,” he says. “Therefore, we have restaurant quality hot meals ready to eat. To speed up check out time, we offer self-checkouts. We have more pharmacies and skilled pharmacists to take care of our customers medical prescription needs while the customer shops. What’s important to the customer is what’s important to us.”
Today’s customers are looking for the best quality in their food they buy for their family. One of our major focus is on fresh, high quality produce. Our Buy Fresh, Buy Local program and CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) insures we have the freshest produce to offer through local area farmers. To help the customer fully utilize the benefits of fresh produce, we offer nutritional services and cooking classes.
Our health and naturals department and the availability of more organic foods, rounds out the best of a healthy, balanced diet. Included in our family of best-quality products is the exclusive line of Tippin’s Pies.Technology will continue to play a very important role in the future of retailing. Most importantly, David expects continued demand for products and services that save time for shoppers, particularly value added prepared foods. He knows the continued competition from giant supercenters demand a heightened focus on service.
“Our stores have to be the best, up-to-date place to shop for their presence in time.”
“We have to do something better than what the supercenters are doing,” David says. “We have to offer friendliness and better-trained and educated teammates with product knowledge.”
Today, David’s vision is unobstructed as he continues to lead Ball’s Food Stores forward. The Ball’s Company is committed to providing it’s customers with friendly service, quality products, and value pricing, in clean organized stores. We know that our customers are the reason we are in business, so we strive to make grocery shopping a pleasure, not a chore. We are dedicated to providing honesty and fairness, offering truth in our advertising, freshness in all of our perishable products, and guaranteed satisfaction with every purchase. We keep every cost of operation at a minimum to insure that we will always be price competitive.
We know that the success of the Ball’s Company depends upon satisfying the needs of our teammates, customers and the communities of which we are a part. The pursuit of this philosophy will not only insure the profitable growth of our company, but will provide financial reward, job security, and career opportunities for the members of our team who pursue this philosophy with us.
